Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Workshops

The Directors College offers a series of professional development workshops that take place across the country and are designed to build skills and contribute to the overall success of our students. Each workshop features a different topic related to governance in Canada. Completed workshops contribute to the overall CPD hours.

Networking Events

The Directors College hosts regular networking events for both alumni and faculty to socialize with their peers. We also work closely with partners and affiliate organizations to present interest joint events. Events take place throughout the year to provide a chance to develop and build connections.

Celebrate our rebrand and new programming for the upcoming year, we hosted a networking reception with our partners at NATIONAL Public Relations. This event was exclusive and complimentary for all Directors College alumni and faculty.

Innovation Governance: The Role of the Board in Value Creation

The joint event with the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University featured panelist; Eugene Roman Chief Technology Officer at Canadian Tire, Gino Scapillati Vice Chair of PwC Canada and a member of the PwC Global Governance Board, The Directors College Faculty and Group General Counsel for Travelers Canada Jordan Solway, and The Directors College alumni Anna Paluzzi C.Dir. Program Manager of Technology at Canadian Tire, moderated by our Principal Faculty Michael Hartmann. The event was free to The Directors College alumni.

Gender Diversity on Boards: Comply or Explain. The event featured panelist: Mary Lou Maher Chief Diversity Officer at KPMG, Kevin Patterson Senior Executive VP at CIBC, Wendi Locke The Directors College Faculty and Partner at McCarthy Tétrault and The Directors College alumni Selma Lussenburg C.Dir. Vice President and Corporate Secretary at the Greater Toronto Airport Authority. 
Presented in partnership with the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University and KPMG.

Networking & Reception

The networking reception was presented jointly with CPA BC and the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. This invitation only event was complimentary for Alumni, CPA BC members and special guests. We featured a keynote speech from George Cadman. George is Chair of the Governance Committee at Vancouver Airport Authority and Executive Board Member, Finance and Audit Committee Chair, of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. Guests had the opportunity to ask George their governance questions and get his insight and experience on their current challenges.

The event featured a fireside chat on board governance with George Weber, President & CEO of The Royal Ottawa Health Care Group and Alumni of The Directors College Audit Committee Certified (A.C.C.) program.
