Canada’s Chartered Directors
The Directors College is pleased to present Canada’s Chartered Directors. The graduates listed below have completed The Chartered Director Program, an intensive individual examination, and have met the other requirements to become a Chartered Director (C.Dir.)
The Directors College and the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés (CAS) of Université Laval have a reciprocal agreement, whereby their respective designations – Chartered Director (C.Dir.) and Administrateur de sociétés certifié (ASC) are recognized as equivalent.

Mr. Brian Cowan, C.Dir.
Vice-Chair, Guelph Hydro Inc

Brian is currently Vice-Chair with Guelph Hydro Inc. and its subsidiary companies; Guelph Hydro Electric Systems Inc. and Ecotricity Guelph Inc. Brian has chaired the Finance and Audit Committee and currently sits on the Nomination, Human Resources and Compensation and Governance Committees. Brian is a Director of the Waterloo-Wellington Community Care Access Centre where he is also the Chair of the Governance Committee, is a member on the Puslinch Township Planning Advisory Committee and a Director of Innovation Guelph. Brian has also served as Vice Chair of Atria Networks Inc. and is the former Chair of Curl Ontario.
Brian Cowan is retired from Teranet Inc. where he was responsible for Marketing, Business Development, Program Development, Communications and Government Relations over his 17 year career with the company. During this time, Brian also served as President and Chief Operating Officer of one of Teranet's subsidiaries. Prior to Teranet, Brian was an executive with Intergraph Corp. in Canada and the Netherlands.
Brian holds a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo, an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University, has completed advanced training at Harvard Law School and obtained the Chartered Director designation in 2005.
Brian is married, has two sons, is active on committees in his church and with Rotary in his community and lives in Puslinch, Ontario.
