Canada’s Chartered Directors
The Directors College is pleased to present Canada’s Chartered Directors. The graduates listed below have completed The Chartered Director Program, an intensive individual examination, and have met the other requirements to become a Chartered Director (C.Dir.)
The Directors College and the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés (CAS) of Université Laval have a reciprocal agreement, whereby their respective designations – Chartered Director (C.Dir.) and Administrateur de sociétés certifié (ASC) are recognized as equivalent.

Mr. David Collie, C.Dir.
President and Chief Executive Officer, Electrical Safety Authority

David Collie joined the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) as President and CEO in June of 2009. As a member of the board of directors for the Electrical Safety Authority since 2007, David has been an advocate of ESA's longer-term strategic direction and the vision to create "an Ontario free of electrical fatalities and serious injury, damage or loss".
With experience and a proven track record from both private and public sector management of electrical, water and gas industries, David has earned the respect required to lead Ontario's Electrical Safety Authority. Under his leadership Burlington Hydro excelled in a wide range of energy and business related areas which included earning the 2008 Electrical Engineering Project of the Year, and the Electrical Utilities Safety Association's prestigious President's Award for exceptional commitment to employee and public safety two years in a row.
As a founding member of the Ontario Smart Grid Forum, and through involvement in the restructuring of the electrical industry David has established stakeholder relationships that resulted in his Chairing the Electricity Distributors Association (EDA), participating on the Stakeholder Advisory Committee of the Independent Electricity System Operator, and contributing to the Ontario's Smart Meter Implementation Oversight Committee. His efforts to support federal, provincial and municipal partnerships in the conservation and energy demand management field have been recognized by the Ontario Power Authority. A prominent public speaker on energy topics, David has been a direct participant in conservation projects ranging from municipal cogeneration, water conservation and energy demand management.
Professionally, Mr. Collie has remained active with the Society of Management Accountants of both Ontario and Canada and sits on the Strategic and Risk Management Committee. He is also the past Chair of the National Certification Committee. In 2004, he was awarded the distinction of Fellow of the Society.
He is the immediate past Chair of the Board of the Hamilton-Burlington United Way and was the 2002/2003 Campaign Co-Chair. Mr. Collie is also a past board member of the Burlington Economic Development Corporation.
Academically, David holds MBA, CMA and Chartered Director designations and remains a faculty member at the Directors College of Canada. He and a group of distinguished Chartered Directors volunteer their time teaching governance practices for the not for profit sector.
