Canada’s Chartered Directors
The Directors College is pleased to present Canada’s Chartered Directors. The graduates listed below have completed The Chartered Director Program, an intensive individual examination, and have met the other requirements to become a Chartered Director (C.Dir.)
The Directors College and the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés (CAS) of Université Laval have a reciprocal agreement, whereby their respective designations – Chartered Director (C.Dir.) and Administrateur de sociétés certifié (ASC) are recognized as equivalent.

Mr. Merv Hillier, C.Dir.
President and Chief Executive Officer, Certified Management Accountants of Ontario
Merv Hillier is the President and CEO of the Certified Management Accountants of Ontario, a position he has held since 2007. With approximately 50,000 members in Canada and 25,000 members in Ontario, CMA members are recognized by industry and academia as experts in the integration of accounting, management and strategy, key elements for value creation.
Merv is the past Chair of the Board for the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC), the appointed federal regulatory body for practicing immigration consultants. He currently sits as a Public Interest Director with the ICCRC. Merv is also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee for the business school at Wilfrid Laurier University and a member of the Economic Development Committee for the Toronto Board of Trade.
Merv is a Fellow of CMA Canada, a distinction which recognizes community involvement, professional success and contributions to the management accounting profession.
Prior to joining CMA Ontario, Merv was Managing Partner for a consulting firm with offices in Canada and Bahrain, working with organizations in North America and the Middle East that required an alignment of organizational strategy, structure and culture to drive sustainable growth. He was also the Canadian President of a diversified company in manufacturing and distribution servicing the automotive and high tech industries. As President, Merv led his company to being consistently recognized as one of the “50 Best Managed Companies in Canada”.
Merv has travelled extensively, throughout North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He speaks regularly to domestic and international audiences on best practices in developing high performance organizations and is featured in the Profiles in Leadership video series.
