Canada’s Chartered Directors
The Directors College is pleased to present Canada’s Chartered Directors. The graduates listed below have completed The Chartered Director Program, an intensive individual examination, and have met the other requirements to become a Chartered Director (C.Dir.)
The Directors College and the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés (CAS) of Université Laval have a reciprocal agreement, whereby their respective designations – Chartered Director (C.Dir.) and Administrateur de sociétés certifié (ASC) are recognized as equivalent.

Dr. Peter Hughes, C.Dir.
Director, Independent

In 1975, Dr Hughes founded Dynacon Associates (now Dynacon Inc.), which has become a successful space and medical automation business (approx. revenue of $5M/year), building Canada's first microsatellite and exporting satellite gyro wheels and medical lab automation hardware to the U.S. and Europe. He currently serves as Chairman & CEO.
Hughes has served on many committees, both within and outside the University. He is a professional engineer (Ontario), a Fellow of the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute (CASI), and an Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He is the 2006 winner of the Alouette Award, the highest award from the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute, and the winner of the John Chapman Award, the highest award from the Canadian Space Agency. He is currently a Professor Emeritus of Aerospace Engineering at the Institute for Aerospace Studies, and a Professor Emeritus in Strategic Management in the Rotman School of Management, both at the University of Toronto.
