Mr. John Fraser
Senior Vice-President, Internal Audit and former Chief Risk Officer, Hydro One Inc.

John Fraser is the Senior Vice-President, Internal Audit and former Chief Risk Officer (thirteen years) of Hydro One Networks Inc., one of North America’s largest electricity transmission and distribution companies. He is a member of the Executive Committee and reports to the President and CEO, as well as to the Audit & Finance Committee. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, a Certified Internal Auditor, and a Certified Information Systems Auditor. He has over 30 years experience in the risk and control field mostly in the financial services sector, including areas such as finance, fraud, derivatives, safety, environmental, computers and operations.

Prior to joining Hydro One, Mr. Fraser held various senior level positions which include, Senior Vice President, Quality Assurance at Newcourt Credit Group Inc.; Director, Internal Audit at Scott’s Hospitality Inc.; Vice President, Investment Banking Auditing at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce; Vice President and Director at Wood Gundy Inc.; and Senior Computer Audit Manager at Coopers and Lybrand, Chartered Accountants.

John is a faculty member of The Directors College for the Strategic Risk Oversight Program; Developed and teach a mandatory course entitled Enterprise Risk Management in the Masters in Financial Accountability Program at York University; he is past Chair of The Conference Board of Canada’s Strategic Risk Council (nine years); and past member of the Risk Management and Governance Board of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

He is a recognized authority on enterprise risk management (ERM) and has co-authored several academic papers on ERM. He also co-authored the CICA’s publications: “20 Questions Directors Should Ask about Risk” and “20 Questions Directors Should Ask about Internal Audit.” He is co-editor of a university text-book released in 2010: “Enterprise Risk Management: Insights and Analysis on Today's Leading Research and Best Practices”, and is currently co-editing a textbook of case studies on enterprise risk management due for publication at the end of the year.
